  • March 7, 2025: International Women's Day Celebration. More than 50 Columbians came together at the Columbia Alumni Association to celebrate International Women’s Day with an unforgettable event featuring Sarah Hoover, ‘07GSAS, and Alex Wallace, ‘88CC, on the launch of Sarah’s memoir, The Motherload: Episodes from the Brink of Motherhood, which chronicles her journey into motherhood and her experience with postpartum depression. In a warm and candid fireside chat, Alex and Sarah explored themes of identity, vulnerability, and the cultural expectations placed on women—sparking thoughtful reflection and lively discussion among attendees. Afterward, alumni enjoyed refreshments, connected with one another, and had the opportunity to meet Sarah as she signed copies of her book. The energy in the room was inspiring, and many alumni shared that it was one of the most meaningful conversations they’ve attended—a beautiful celebration of womanhood, storytelling, and community.

  • January 31, 2025: Ask the Expert: Changing Careers and Tackling the Climate Crisis with Jennifer Allyn ’23CS

  • January 26, 2025: Romy Silver-Kohn '08GSAS, co-curator, led a private exhibition visit of the Lillie P. Bliss and the Birth of the Modern for CAA Arts Access and She Opened the Door invitees. Bliss' uniquely generous gift, which allowed for the sale of her works to fund new acquisitions—including Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night—provided the young museum with a means to develop its collection far into the future. The tour gave Columbians an appreciation for the groundbreaking artists she championed—Cézanne, Redon, Seurat, and Picasso—at a time when modern art was met with skepticism and her legacy continues to shape the museum’s collection today. Beyond the incredible art and insights, the conversations, connections, and shared curiosity that followed among alumni was joyful and inspiring.

Cassandra Ziegler '17TC, '25SIPA, and Kate Konecny Pope '13SPS are announced as SOTD’s new leadership Co-Chairs.

  • March 2, 2024: She Opened the Door to Health -- Empowering Women to Lead Healthy Lives. It featured keynote sessions and panels focused on longevity, reproductive and fertility, health equity, well-being, and social connectedness. In addition to gaining insights from prominent individuals committed to the advancement of women's well-being both at Columbia and beyond, conference attendees were also given the unique opportunity to connect and network with women and affiliates from across the University.

  • February 25, 2024: The New York Historical Society Tour with Anna Danzinger Halperin ’06BC,’12GSAS,’13GSAS,’18GSAS took place on Sunday, February 25, 2024, with a private tour of one of the fascinating new exhibitions, “Women’s Work.” The exhibition showcases 45 objects “to demonstrate that women’s work has been essential to American society and is inherently political: Women’s work is everywhere.” Anna Danzinger Halperin ’06BC,’12GSAS,’13GSAS,’18GSAS, Associate Director of the Center for Women’s History at the NYHS, led the tour. After the tour, Anna discussed her scholarly research, particularly in child care, and led attendees in a conversation about the critical issues and challenges women have faced in the workplace.
